Everything prints too light

Take the toner cartridge out and rock it gently side to side a few times, then put it back. That redistributes what's left and often buys you another few hundred pages. If it's still light, check whether Toner Save is switched on in the printer menu or in the driver, because it's easy to turn on by accident and easy to forget about. Density settings live in the same menu.
