Everything prints too light

Even, all-over faintness usually isn't the print head. Check whether draft or economy mode got left on from the last long document you printed, and check the paper type in the driver matches what's in the tray, because the wrong setting lays down less ink. After that, look at the ink levels. A cartridge reading low often prints acceptably right up until it doesn't.
