White gaps and missing lines
Print the nozzle check pattern first, from the maintenance menu on the printer or in Epson's software on your computer. It shows you which nozzles are firing, and cleaning without it is guesswork. If there are gaps, run one head cleaning and print the pattern again. Improved but not right? Run one more, then stop. Every cleaning cycle pushes ink into the printer's internal pads, which is what eventually triggers the ink pad warning, so repeated cleanings cost you twice. Power Cleaning is the heavy option and uses a great deal of ink, so treat it as a last resort rather than a next step.
